Now no laughing Car !!!!!! this is the quilt so far and the eye spy orchestra fabric ...........don' t know whether to border this part in black or red before I go on maybe in black with a mix of the eye spy and I have a white music note fabric for the next set of blocks...Let me know your thoughts.... Ideas. I always thought I would do the black and white now am not so sure

That looks great! I think I'd keep it to black and white theme & border your trombone blocks with black.
I'd be inclined to leave the red out completely (although having a 3rd colour can be good thing too.)
Love that orchestra fabric, if you had enough, could you use it as a border around the centre blocks?
I love it...and if you do decide to add red...I think I would maybe just stitch in red around the white squares very close to the seam and then you could have a red backing. Looks great!!
